Brazilaversary

This is a post I wanted to do back in October.  On October 13th we celebrated our "Brazilaversary," or our 1 year anniversary of our arrival here.  We don't have any especially good photos of us that day, but we did celebrate by going out for ice cream at Casabel, our favorite ice cream shop.  It's only soft serve ice cream, and it's really not all that great, however, the owner is super nice and from the very first week we arrived with little-to-no Portuguese, he did his best to welcome us and talk to us and befriend us.  We visited the shop more than one time that first week of getting our bearings, and it seemed an appropriate way to celebrate our Brazilaversary.

And here is us one year before at O'Hare Airport pre-departure.  Do you think we've changed?  Some of us have gained weight (little people) and some of us have lost weight (big people) but we've all been significantly changed in ways that you cannot see.  We love this experience.  We love taking the bad with the good, counting our blessings, and trying to make the most of the time we have here.  We have travel plans yet to fulfill, people we want to spend more time with, much more Portuguese to learn, restaurants we love to frequent, a pool we take advantage of almost every day.  And yes, we also look forward to the day when we go home.
