We offered to bring back gourds for D's preschool class, which they have used in a variety of ways, including acting out the "five little pumpkins" rhyme, sorting by color and shape, lining them up in lines and patterns, decorating them with faces, playing pumpkin patch, loading them into trucks, using them as babies with blankets and bottles and in the end each child got to choose one and put his name on it to take home at the end of this week.
We were asked by so many classmates if the pumpkin patch is near here, and do they do pick- your-own-pumpkins, I laugh and suggest a 15 hour drive for a preschool field trip, but no one volunteers to chaperone. :)

This was really D's year for the pumpkin patch....he figured out how to maneuver through the vines and pick out all his favorites (he had a gator load)!
We found plenty of gourds too (planted and volunteer). Though we have a "volunteer" pumpkin/gourd patch at home, we had so much fun picking and picking gourds. I described it like an all you can eat buffet, it's hard not to get just a few more.
This is my favorite picture of D from the whole trip. He has an armload he's collecting for his class. This picture is hanging up at preschool too.
