Gratitude

At preschool, D's class must be preparing for Thanksgiving by talking about gratitude and things they were thankful for. The teacher, he told us, went around the circle asking each child what they were grateful for. Intrigued, I asked D what he had said. "Steel," was his reply. Really? Of all things, he's grateful for steel? I had to inquire why. "Because without steel we wouldn't have tractors or combines or cars." Naturally.
